Arrival
A calm welcome, your written instructions reviewed together, favourite bed and belongings placed before you leave.
Your dog stays in a loving home with long daily walks, swims and play. Never crated, never in a crowd.
Serving the Lake Geneva region: the La Côte (Morges, Rolle, Nyon), Lavaux and Lutry, and Geneva's lakeside at Cologny, Vandœuvres and Collonge-Bellerive.
This is what one night in residence looks like, hour by hour.
A calm welcome, your written instructions reviewed together, favourite bed and belongings placed before you leave.
Quiet lanes, vineyard paths and lake air, paced to your dog, on their own leash, at their own speed.
The settled part of the evening. Company, quiet, and the day's photograph sent to your phone, wherever you are.
Their own bed, the duvet you sent along, or the foot of ours. Whichever is home for them.
An unhurried first walk, breakfast, and a good-morning photograph before the day begins.

A kennel is not a bad thing, and for a robust, sociable, large dog it can work perfectly well. The difference here is exclusivity and size: one guest at a time, in a house, which is what suits a nervous, elderly, small or thoroughly spoiled dog.
A single guest dog at a time. No packs, no overlapping stays, no back-to-back mixing. While your dog is with us, the calendar is closed to everyone else.
No hourly daycare, no drop-in visits. Overnight and multi-night stays exclusively, so the house stays calm and your dog settles into a real rhythm.
A quiet private residence. Sofa privileges, a settled evening routine, and your dog's habits kept exactly as written, from portion sizes to the side of the bed.
Questionnaire, discovery call, then a meet and greet with Aja before any stay is agreed. It protects your dog, and it protects ours.
One guest means every detail is set to your dog, and to you. You choose the walks, the diet and the routine; we keep watch over all of it, live, wherever in the world you are.
Home is the quiet hills above the La Côte, near Reverolle at the foot of the Jura: open fields, forest and lake air. Daily walks come as standard, and seven scouted Jura trails wait for the dogs who live for them, on lead or off, entirely as you decide.
Every outing carries the latest Tractive GPS: real-time location, virtual safe-zone alerts and activity monitoring, on a live link you can open from anywhere in the world. As a second, independent backup we also fit an Apple AirTag — Precision Finding and the Find My network of over a billion Apple devices pinpoint your dog too, anonymous and end-to-end encrypted.
Photographs and short films through the day, with a morning note and an evening picture, sent privately to you by WhatsApp. Never posted, never shared with anyone else.
Meals prepared fresh to your dog's needs, whether raw, prescription or simply particular, and served on your exact home schedule. With a single guest, nothing is ever approximated for a group.
Immediate access to trusted local emergency vets, or your own, should anything ever be needed. Your care instructions and consent are agreed in writing before the stay begins.
Private car collection and return at your home, across the Lausanne to Geneva corridor, so travel days stay calm and unhurried for you and your dog alike.
Our guests come from a few different worlds, but their owners share one thing: a dog they would never leave in a kennel.
Posted to Vaud or Geneva, often with a dog who has already crossed a border or two. Home leave, half-term, a trip back to see family, or the weeks around a move: we speak English and French, and we are used to owners who are new to the canton and want to see exactly where their dog will sleep before they commit.
Frequent, often last-minute business travel, and the need for someone dependable to look after a dog overnight at short notice.
Occasional trips: a short break, a longer holiday, or anything in between, with a dog who stays somewhere calm while they are away.
A night or two away, whether that is visiting friends and family or a trip into Zurich, without putting a dog through the stress of travel and city life.
The house is set up for small and medium dogs, up to roughly 25 kg. A Dachshund, a Cavalier, a Cocker, a Beagle, a Mini Schnauzer, a Whippet, a Border Collie at the upper end: all completely at home here, and Aja is delighted either way.
Above that weight we would be promising something this house cannot honestly give. A Bernese Mountain Dog or a Great Dane needs more floor, a larger car and more strength at the other end of the lead than a two-person household can offer while a small Dachshund is also in the room. We would far rather tell you now than let you down in August.
If your dog is bigger than that, please do still write. We know the region well, and we would sooner introduce you to someone properly equipped for a large breed than take a booking we could not do beautifully.
What brings them to us is the one-to-one care: not a crowded, unfamiliar kennel that raises a dog's anxiety, but a home with just our family and theirs. Your dog stays exactly as they would at home, with room on the bed or the couch, cuddles between walks, and runs, swims and games with a favourite toy. Full attention, and you always know exactly where they are.
Overnight is the product. The day is the adventure. For guests in residence we walk real ground: half-day and full-day expeditions on scouted loops of the Jura vaudois, from river gorges to the highest ridge in the range. The loop is chosen with you, never by default: your dog's age, fitness, joints, the heat, the snow, and how they feel that morning.
South from the col to the peak, returning on the eastern forest path.
Elevation, stylised. The exact profile lives on the route map.
Open the Live Route MapFollowed live, from wherever you are. Every expedition is tracked by GPS, and you receive a private live map link before we set out: the same bright line, moving. Routes are agreed at the discovery call and confirmed at the meet & greet, and on quiet days the standard walks around the house remain exactly as your dog knows them.
No dog runs, no car parks, no laps of a football field. Your dog walks the country we walk: ridge lines above the cloud, cold mountain water, deep snow under the pines, vineyard tracks at first light. Every photograph below is ours, taken on an ordinary walk with a guest in residence.
One dog at a time means the walk is yours. No group, no shared van, no waiting while six other dogs are collected. The route is chosen for your dog on the morning, and you follow it live by GPS.
Aja, our resident miniature Dachshund, is hostess of the house.
We are a two-person household in the countryside above the La Côte: English-speaking, home through the evening, and unhurried by design. Caring for one dog at a time is not a constraint we tolerate. It is the entire idea. It lets a nervous dog decompress, an older dog keep its medication to the minute, and a pampered dog stay precisely as pampered as it is at home.
Aja, our small female Dachshund, has welcomed guests her whole life. She is calm, friendly and entirely without drama. Near for the dogs who want a companion, out of the way for those who prefer their own court.
We serve the corridor between Lausanne and Geneva: the lakeside and vineyard towns of Canton Vaud and the Geneva side of the shore. Private car collection and return at your door is included across the region, so your only journey on travel day is to the airport.
One guest at a time makes our calendar refreshingly binary: a night is either yours alone, or it is spoken for. Select an open night to begin your request. School holidays are reserved months ahead.
One rate, nothing itemized. A single all-inclusive nightly rate covers the stay, walks and updates, confirmed at your discovery call. We do not surcharge for cuddles.
The path is short and deliberate. We vet every stay with care: for your peace of mind, for your dog's comfort, and for Aja's.
A short screening questionnaire: your contact details, your dog's breed, weight and temperament, requested dates, and any medical or bespoke routines.
Twenty unhurried minutes on the phone. Your dog's habits, your travel dates, the rate, and everything you wish to ask.
A complimentary walk on neutral ground with Aja, then a visit to the house, so your dog arrives somewhere already familiar.
We collect at your door, the calendar closes to all others, and the house is given over to its one guest, with live GPS and daily films throughout.
The questions owners ask before their first discovery call. Anything else, send it through the enquiry form and one of us will reply personally.
1on1 Dog Retreat is a boutique overnight dog care service on the La Côte corridor between Morges and Geneva, in Canton Vaud, Switzerland. Unlike kennels and group daycares, we host strictly one guest dog at a time in our private home, cared for by a resident couple alongside our gentle miniature Dachshund. We serve Morges, Saint-Prex, Rolle, Nyon, Coppet and the Geneva side of the lake.
Never. One guest dog at a time is the founding rule of the house. No packs, no overlapping stays, no back-to-back mixing. When your dog is in residence, the calendar is closed to everyone else. The only other dog your dog will meet is Aja, our small, calm resident Dachshund, and only after a supervised introduction.
1on1 Dog Retreat hosts small and medium dogs, up to roughly 25 kg. Dachshunds, Cavaliers, Cockers, Beagles, Mini Schnauzers, Whippets and Border Collies are all completely at home here. Larger and giant breeds, a Bernese Mountain Dog or a Great Dane for example, need more floor space, a bigger car and more strength on the lead than a two-person household can honestly provide alongside a small resident Dachshund, so we do not take them. If your dog is larger, please still write to us: we would rather introduce you to someone properly equipped for a big breed than accept a stay we could not do well.
Yes, and a good share of our guests belong to expat families posted to Vaud or Geneva. We are used to dogs who have recently flown, to owners who are new to the canton, and to the weeks around a move when a house is full of boxes. Everything is run in English or French, the discovery call and meet & greet let you see exactly where your dog will sleep before you commit, and door-to-door collection covers the Morges to Geneva corridor on travel days. We are happy to speak with a relocation agent or a house manager on your behalf.
No. We are an overnight house exclusively. We accept overnight and multi-night stays for business trips, long weekends and holidays, and nothing by the hour. This keeps the household calm and lets every guest settle into a real routine rather than a revolving door.
We serve the La Côte corridor of Lake Geneva: Morges, Saint-Prex, Rolle, Nyon and Coppet in Canton Vaud, together with Geneva and its surrounding communes. Guests from further afield, including Lausanne and across the border, are welcome by arrangement, and collection or drop-off can be organised for your travel days.
The two of us, a resident English-speaking couple, in our own home. Your dog is never handed to staff, rotated between sitters or left in a facility overnight. One of us is with your dog throughout the stay, and you receive an evening photograph every night, wherever in the world you are.
That is precisely what one guest at a time makes possible. Before the stay we take your routine in writing: food and portions, walking habits, medication and timings, sleeping arrangements, the small rituals. Then we follow it exactly. Hosting a single dog means nothing is ever approximated for the convenience of a group.
As much as suits them, decided with you. Daily walks are standard for every guest. For dogs that live for the trail, we also run half-day and full-day Jura expeditions during the stay: scouted loops such as Crêt de la Neuve, the Gorges de l'Orbe and Mont Tendre, chosen together at the discovery call to match your dog's age, fitness and the season. Every expedition is tracked by GPS, and you receive a private live map link before we set out.
You watch over the whole stay. Every walk carries dual GPS and an Apple AirTag, with a live location link you can open from anywhere in the world. Photographs and short films come to you privately by WhatsApp through the day, alongside a morning note and an evening picture. And should anything ever be needed, we have immediate access to trusted local emergency vets, or your own.
Yes to both. Meals are prepared fresh to your dog's diet, whether raw, prescription or simply particular, and served on your exact home schedule. Private car collection and return at your door is included across the Lausanne to Geneva corridor, so travel days stay calm and your only journey is to the airport.
Executives who travel often, and at short notice, and need someone dependable overnight; families away for a short break or a longer holiday; and working professionals wanting a night or two away, from a visit to friends and family to a trip into Zurich, without putting their dog through the stress of travel and city life. What they share is a dog they would never leave in a kennel.
Whenever the calendar is open, yes. Because we host one guest at a time, availability is genuinely finite, but for owners with sudden travel we do our best to accommodate short notice. Once we have met your dog, arranging a stay is quick. The calendar on this page shows open nights in real time.

Deliberately not. We are a private household on the La Côte, not a facility. No runs, no cages, no groups of unfamiliar dogs. Every stay is governed by a screening process, written care instructions and a signed care agreement, and every guest lives in the house as our only guest.
Tell us about your dog and roughly when you need us. We answer every message ourselves, usually the same evening, in English or French.
We will reply personally, usually the same evening.
Tell us about your dog and your dates. If the fit is right, for you, for your dog and for Aja, the house is yours alone.
